SPCK (The Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge)

SPCK works with Christians of all denominations to help people grow in the Christian faith, supporting Christian literature and Christian education through publishing, bookselling and grant-making.

SPCK is the oldest Anglican mission agency, founded in 1698. For three hundred years we have been working in the UK and around the world to help people to grow in the Christian faith.

Our Mission Statement commits us to promoting Christian knowledge by communicating the Christian faith in its rich diversity, helping people to understand it and to develop their personal faith and equipping Christians for mission and ministry.

An Anglican (Church of England) agency, we have always worked with Christians of many denominations. We do not seek to promote a particular approach to Christianity, but seek to provide resources to serve Christians of all backgrounds and to help those of different traditions and cultures to learn from each other.

Traditionally our focus has been upon Christian literature and education, which remain the core strands of our ministry. Increasingly, however, we are using other media to communicate the Christian message both in providing the tools for Christians to use up-to-date methods and in using them ourselves.

Our Assemblies website, www.assemblies.org.uk, provides weekly assemblies for primary school children as well as special material for using in terms of disaster and emergency, such as September 11th. It also covers the important times in a child's life such as starting a new school or the death of a friend.

Our Online bookshop, www.spckonline.com, has a database of over 50,000 Christian books in print as well as an "Ask the Bookseller" service for your queries or finding that must have title that is now sadly out of print.
